Quicken Qdf File Corrupted Sophos
HI- Just checking to see if it is/was just me or if a Quicken problem. Running QKN2015 on Windows. This morning, when I tried to load my Quicken file - I got a 'Validation Complete' popup followed by (after I clicked OK), 'Quicken file is damaged - Restore from a Backup (or something pretty much like that)'. In my 20+ years of Quicken use, I might have, but certainly DON'T REMEMBER EVER getting this error message(s) before, either one of them. So I am just checking to see if it is just me or if there is any kind of funny stuff going on with Quicken. And regarding the 1st popup, the 'Validation Complete' - is that something new built into Quicken when you first load it, OR did that just come up because they were about to tell me my Quicken file is damaged. Fortunately, because of the automatic backups built into Quicken, I was able to restore my Quicken file from one saved a few days ago - and everything looks good as far as I can tell - and I feel no data was lost because all I was doing a few days ago was running some reports for information to put into TurboTax.
You are right in moving the Quicken data file off of Onedrive (or any cloud sync) as this leads to many issues as the data file has continual read/write operations that the sync process interferes with and can corrupt your data.

My main QdataQkn2015.QDF file (with today's Saturday 2/25/17 date on it, I guess because it was initially accessed when Quicken was loaded) is almost twice the size of Wednesday's 2/22/17 backed-up Quicken file that I used to restore from (212 MB vs.
All (4 of them) of the other automatic back-up files are 129 MB, so the 212 MB guy seems to be the anomaly. However, this would seem to indicate that the original Quicken file I have been using with Quicken 2015 Deluxe, ever since I upgraded to QW2015 2 years ago, is indeed damaged. Has anybody else experienced this type of anomaly? Ron in round rock.
I have not experienced this personally, but there have been a couple of reports on here where people have said they got the Quicken File Damaged message. It is basically just what it sounds like, your Quicken data file was so corrupted, Quicken gave up on trying to load it. As for the Validate message, I haven't seen anyone mention that, but it quite reasonable to assume that if while Quicken was opening your data file it noticed some problem it might automatically run Validate & Repair to try to fix it. As I said, I really can't remember ever opening Quicken and getting a message that the Quicken file is corrupted (Validation failed) and could not be opened - THIS WAS BEYOND SCARY TO ME - my life (well, 20+ years) is in that Quicken file! But since the file I was trying to open almost twice the size of all of my backups, I will have to go along with the error that Quicken gave me, that the file was truly corrupted. But the backed up Quicken file from a couple of days earlier worked perfectly and everything is all right with the world again, so I am don't think pursuing this issue is worth it - just wanted to check to see if it was any kind of common problem (i.e.
Bad hair day at Quicken). Arduino read serial number. Still having problems with knowing how to close these Posts out, but would if I knew how. Ron in round rock.
